I’m excited today to be talking to Ambar from Mama Bird Well Nest, Yoga and Holistic Living Solutions for Families. She is a self care coach, + stress relief specialist. Ambar uses holistic methods of stress relief and positive mindset tools including yoga, meditation and mindfulness as a way to take care of herself and her family. She even taught her daughter how to use yoga and meditation in small doses!
Mama Bird Well Nest helps promote positive mental health and well-being for mothers of all ages and stages through yoga and meditation classes, self care practices and stress relief coaching.

I created Mama Bird Well Nest in 2012 after welcoming my daughter into the world.
Before becoming a mother, I had healed a lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety by incorporating positive mindset work and holistic living tools such as yoga, meditation, and mindfulness into my life. After feeling unhappy and stressed for many years, I finally felt healed as a result of using these holistic methods of stress relief and devoting myself to self care.
I often joke that back in those days, I was the queen of self care. My husband and I had created a leisurely life by the beach at the Jersey shore, and it was just the 2 of us, so we had plenty of time for date nights and long walks on the beach. As an introvert, I have always been someone who thrives on alone time, and during this time, I enjoyed daily yoga sessions, self care activities such as monthly massages and bi-weekly mani-pedis, and had a lot of leisure time to spend however I wanted! It was glorious and I felt very well taken care of.
Becoming a mom threw me into a whole new reality. I LOVED being a mom from the start, but I was shocked at how much my darling little daughter required of me. All of my self care efforts started to fall away as the focus turned to keeping my precious baby alive and well! Little by little, I started feeling stressed out, isolated, and very alone. I knew that something had to change.
For me, change started with yoga. I started practicing mommy & me yoga with my daughter when she was just 2 months old, mostly out of necessity. I needed to find a way to do something for myself while keeping her happy and entertained, and yoga was the perfect answer. We started to begin each day with a little bit of mommy and yoga, and that lead to incorporating other lifestyle habits that helped me feel more at peace and fulfilled in my daily mom life.
As a new mom, I started to redefine my definition of self care. It no longer meant spa days and hours of relaxation time… Instead, I learned that self care is really about simplifying; saying yes to the things that fill me up, no to the things that drain me, and incorporating moments of peace into my daily life. I started to recognize that by making time to nourish my mind, body, and spirit, I was naturally teaching my daughter to do the same!
My daughter is now 3 years old and we share an incredible bond. We continue to practice mommy and me yoga regularly, we use essential oils, make vision boards, and I’ve even taught her to meditate ( for very short amounts of time! ???? ) Motherhood has been one of the greatest joys in my life. I love sharing all of the valuable holistic living tools that I have learned both with my daughter as well as with other mothers. It is my hope that in being here, you will learn some helpful tools to make your own mom life feel easier, happier, and more enjoyable!
I am a woman on a mission.
I firmly believe that when women learn to take great care of themselves, it has a positive impact on everyone in their lives. When we take time to fill ourselves up, we are better capable of serving our families, our friends, and the world.
Women who practice self care and learn to relieve stress and anxiety are teaching their children to do the same. We create a new paradigm where there is no longer a stigma around mental health, where stating how you are feeling and asking for help is normal, where there is no shame in talking about your emotions or your desires.
Our children grow up in a world where taking care of themselves is second nature, and managing their emotions in healthy ways is a natural part of everyday life. We create a new generation of happy, healthy, self sufficient adults. We make the world a better place by leaving a legacy of self sufficiency instead of self sacrifice.
Don’t we all want that?
