Suspending Disbelief: 365 Days of Showing Up to Life in the Energy of Inevitable Success – Day 11

Lucky Number Day 11 – 5/9/24

Morning Antics, Mother’s Day Lunch and Mom’s Spa Night In

This morning I got Emma ready for school and it was raining. A few things started going wrong and then I caught myself saying in my head, “If one more thing goes wrong… “

I had scraped the back of my Achilles tendon on a sharp edge of the bed frame, and it really hurt. It took everything in me not to scream, “What else?”

I spilled coffee. The dogs were not getting in their kennels so I could leave the house to go to Emma’s Mother’s Day Lunch at school.

I was getting frustrated with that. They kept running away from me. Grr……

I decided to take a salt bath in the morning to cleanse my energies before heading over to Mother’s Day lunch at Emma’s school. So I did that and had a beautiful channeling session where I got a ton of inspiration for my website copy and social posts and programs and collaborations and so much beautiful inspiration came through.

After my bath I realized I only had about 30 minutes to get ready, so I quickly made our lunches that I was going to bring to Emma’s school. She’d requested that I stop at McDonald’s and get her a hash brown and a Slurpee drink. So I ordered ahead on the app thinking I’m going to be ahead of the game.

I got to McDonald’s and it wasn’t ready. So I was standing there waiting. There were a couple other moms waiting (also going to attend the Mother’s Day Event at the school.)

The event at the school started at 10:30 and by this time it was 10:25. So we’re all waiting there for our orders.

Finally, I get my stuff. I run out, and get in my car. I’m going to drive out of the McDonald’s parking lot and a woman abruptly pulls out of the drive through line and cuts me off.

So I’m like, “OK, here we go.”

You know what?

Maybe she feels her day is more important than mine. So I driving through town, and realize she’s going to the exact same place as me to the school for the Mother’s Day lunch. (haha)

So I’m like, “OK, I’m just going to bless and release this whole situation.”

Then I see that she parks really far away from the school and is running to get there. I keep driving, thinking, I’ll find a closer spot. I’m manifesting a closer spot. So I get up closer to the school. I find a closer spot right in front of the school and parallel park it like a champ (thank you from my days of living in the city!)

“Here we go the day’s turning around!”

Mother’s Day Lunch

I get into the school and Emma’s waiting for me near the entrance with her teacher. She looks so excited and happy and we go to her lunch table.

It’s so overwhelmingly loud in there and hard to hear any conversation.

We sat down with two of her friends from her class and the moms were super nice, super, super nice, friendly, just very nice people. I was so happy about that.

I start saying to myself, “Okay the day’s turning around. Things are good. The better it gets, the better it gets.”

After lunch we got to go outside at recess with the kids.

The kids are running around really wild and I was kind of just standing there, waiting and then talked to a mom for a few minutes about her daughter being in gymnastics and summer activities.

It was a really nice and friendly conversation. No judgment, nothing like that.

After that, we went back inside the classroom to do some activities. The teacher had planned an activity of painting of these flower pots.

To give a back story, the original flier for the Mother’s Day Event indicated that we would be getting a “mini makeover” from our kids in the classroom (and to bring supplies like nail polish, hair ties, brushes, etc.), but her teacher had decided out loud to the class that that was “lame,” and so instead she told them they were painting flower pots. This part of the story is actually really important for what happened later. So just keep that in mind.

Emma has this big creative imagination, so she decides on her flower pot, she’s gonna paint the sun exploding and it’s going everywhere and there’s fireballs everywhere. All the other kids are painting flowers and pretty things on their pots for their moms. They’re painting all these pretty things and Emma’s painting a sun exploding and fires flying everywhere and there’s a man on fire with a towel because he ran out of the shower and like all this crazy stuff and I’m allowing her to do it and a couple of the moms at my table kind of gave me funny looks and I was thinking to myself, you know, it’s her creative expression. I’m not gonna suppress it. It was a very defining moment there how most moms would say that’s too much, we can’t do that, that’s violent or whatever and I’m just like, “it’s her creative expression.”

During the event Emma’s teacher made a comment about something being lame again. (GRRRR)

I really don’t like that word lame. First of all the traditional meaning of it isn’t what people think about something being lame or dumb or stupid.

That’s not really what it is. I do not like that her teacher is using that word in the classroom, because I think it’s very poor judgment to teach kids how to say things are lame because what one person feels is “quote unquote” lame does not necessarily mean another person feels that something’s lame, right? It’s a personal judgment, and I believe you shouldn’t force your own personal judgments on others.

So I just took a note of that and at the same time I showed up in an energy of “I’m here for Emma.”

I’m not here to be friends with the teacher because we’ve had a few issues throughout the year and I’m here to support Emma. So I’m not going to let this teacher throw off my energy. I want to have fun with Emma. This is her event; it’s Mother’s Day and she’s so happy and thrilled I’m here with her.

After we were done with all of the activities, it was time for the moms to go home and Emma did not want me to leave. She wanted me to stay in her classroom with her. I told her I couldn’t stay, but that she was welcome to come home with me if she wanted to.

She wanted to stay with her friends in class so she chose to stay even though she had gotten really upset about me leaving, but I was able to help her calm down.

We did some breathing exercises with her “breathing kitty” and she washed her face off and then went back into her classroom. And it took every ounce in me not to say something to the teacher. But again, I was there for Emma. I was not there to be friends with the teacher, if you know what I mean.

I was happy that Emma chose to stay on her own accord. She made a brave decision and I was so proud of her for that.

Later after she got home from school we had a really nice night. We made nachos for dinner, did a mini mom’s spa day in (remember earlier when the teacher said spa days were lame? Yep… I countered that by doing one at home with Emma and it was so much fun.)

We finished watching the movie The Secret and painted each other’s nails and did foot masks and relaxed together.

It was a beautiful, magical evening and I love my turquoise nails Emma designed; they make me so happy every day when I look at them. It’s my fav color and she knows that!

Lessons Learned Day 11

The big lessons for the day were that even if things start going “wrong” in the morning, you have the power to shift that energy and turn things completely around.

Only you hold that power.

If you keep saying “Oh everything is going wrong,” what else? Then more “wrong” things will come your way.

If you take it in strides, and just say, “Okay, that happened, but what GOOD is coming my way?” then more GOOD will come next.

It’s like Jess’ video she recorded when this challenge started. If you haven’t yet watched it, you can check that out here. But she explains in very simplistic terms how manifesting works from a scientific perspective.

And one part of that is not focusing on the “shit, the bad, the negative,” because when you focus on that you give your energy to it, and when you give more of your energy to the negative, you call more of the negative into your energetic field.

Instead you notice it, you may say oh “that sucks,” but move on and then give more of your attention and energy to the positive. Because then you will attract more of those positive things into your life.

Getting stuck in focusing on the negative is truly what makes most people stuck and unable to move forward on their big goals.

And I really didn’t explain the science; Jess does that SO MUCH better, so go watch her video!!

I’d love to hear from you if you have energetically decided to join this challenge and what’s come up for you so far – and I’m celebrating you if you have joined and would love to support you further.
